28th ANNUAL COWBOY POETRY GATHERING
August 15th - 18th, 2013
'KEEPIN IT COWBOY'
Welcome everyone to the 28th Annual Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Western Music Rendezvous a ‘signature event every August’ in Lewistown, Montana. We’re glad you’re here!
This year, the Gathering is proud to announce ROY ROGERS JR. and his son, DUSTIN ROY ROGERS, who will bring their fabulous show, “Continuing the Legacy,” to the 880-seat Fergus Center for the Performing Arts direct from Branson, Missouri, where their musical production is one of the most popular shows on the Branson strip. “Continuing the Legacy” is a tribute to ROY ROGERS, “King of the Cowboys,” and DALE EVANS, “Queen of the West.”
A special guest appearance to open the ROY ROGERS JR. & DUSTIN - ROY ROGERS show will be “red-hot” Dave Stamey. Stamey has been recognized repeatedly by the Western Music Association as 4-time Entertainer of the Year and 5-time Male Performer of the Year. Stamey attended Cowboy Poetry in 2011 and appeared in the Gathering Talent Showcase at the Saturday night show starring Riders in the Sky.
Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering is the 2nd oldest cowboy poetry gathering in the country, just one year behind the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada! The mission of Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering is: “…to preserve and celebrate the history, heritage and values of the American cowboy in the upper Rocky Mountain west.”
The “American Cowboy” embodies the very best of the American spirit, courage, independence and stamina. It is with poetry verse and song lyrics that we honor and celebrate the heritage of the ‘open range’ and all that it brought to our nation. The history, heritage and values of the upper Rocky Mountain cowboy are integral to our way of life today, worth preserving and of great interest to the rest of the world.
Thank you for joining all of us for this joyous time of listening, humming along, honoring those who came before us and taking inspiration from them into our daily lives! We hope you enjoy every minute of your “Keepin’ It Cowboy,” Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering experience and that you return for another visit next year.
